Global Studies
Welcome to the World Problems web
page- it is our hope that you will be able to "link-up" to
valuable information to help you be a success in your class.
This page is organized by teacher
links- just click on your teachers name and access their page.
Your teacher will update their own pages and assignments, so it may be a
good idea to check with them in class as to the status of their page.
You know Social Studies teachers.... we like to talk rather than write!

INFORMATION LINKS- Below are valuable sites that might help you in
preparation for class assignment:
Work hard on your assignment but remember
this...like
most good tools, the WEB can be powerful when used correctly, and useless
or dangerous when used incorrectly. If you are doing research on
the web, and you have limited time (i.e. like most people) you need to
be careful NOT to get sucked into vaguely amusing but pointless
"surfing". Just spending time browsing around is NOT the
same as doing research. Even when you think your being diligent,
you can catch "IMRS" (Internet Mind Rot Syndrome). This
is serious disease that features endless time on the internet looking for
information without REALLY knowing what it is your looking for until you
become frustrated and decide to give it up. Plan your research! Be
smart! Have self-discipline.
AND REMEMBER...
1) Brainstorm (yes, you have a
brain!) narrow your topic first, think about
what you are going to write on and put that on paper to help you keep
focused
as you go on the internet or use real books.
2) Understand your topic- (understand means to read your text; encyclopedia or
teacher supplied text on your specific subject) When you know your
topic this
information will help you stay focused and avoid IMRS-
