Welcome to the Women's Studies web page- it is our hope that you will be able to "link-up" to valuable information to help you be a success in your class. The Women’s Studies course gives young women and men the opportunity to study the role of women in society, past and present.

TOPICS WE WILL EXPLORE:

v     The question of gender:  Are the differences between men and women due to nature or nurture?

v     The dynamics of relationships between men and women in personal, familial, and social environments.

v     The history of the Women’s Movement and its role in society today.

v     The contributions of women: past and present – famous and unknown.

v     The issues relevant to women in society today such as, pay equity, the glass ceiling, sexual harassment, spousal abuse and media exploitation and manipulation.

The goals of this course are to:

bulletRaise the awareness of young people about the status of women past and present.
bulletShare ideas and experiences through discussion and presentations.
bulletAnalyze information found in the media, books, articles and video.
bulletCreate solutions to conflicts and problems that occur in our society due to the status of women and the discrimination they may experience.
