Dance Club Constitution
2000-2001
Article I: Name
The name of this club shall be the
Dance Club of Palatine High School.
Article II: Purpose
The purpose of the Dance Club shall be to create an accepting environment
in which all members can develop their dance skills, and learn to function as a
team. Members will perform at the annual dance show each year, and the Variety
show.
Article III: Organization
Dance Club
will comprised of all interested girls regardless of ability or prior
experience. Open informational meetings will be held each fall to welcome
incoming freshmen.
Article IV: Executive Board
Section 1 – This board shall be the governing body of the Dance Club.
Section
2 – The Executive Board shall be comprised of the President,
Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Advisor.
Section 3 – Elections for officer positions will be held in the fall,
and determined by all members.
Section 4 – Duties and requirements of the Executive Board:
1.
The President must have been a member of the Dance Club for one
year preceding the election. The President will be the group’s official
representative.
2.
The Vice-President will assist the President, and assume all
duties in her absence. She will also serve as the liaison to Orchesis.
3.
The Secretary will take roll at all meetings. She will also guide
all committees regarding publicity matters.
4.
The Treasurer will help to maintain accurate financial records.
She will keep members informed as to the status of the club’s account.
5.
The Advisor will be appointed by the Administration through the
Activities Director. Responsibilities set forth in the official job description
include supervision for all events, scheduling, overseeing club finances and
records, and recognizing the achievements of club members.
Article V: Meetings
The time
and frequency of meetings will be determined as deemed necessary by the advisor.
Standard days of practice will include Wednesday and Thursday.
Article VI: Standards
Section 1 – There
shall be three unexcused absences throughout the school year.
The advisor shall make decisions concerning absences using school
attendance standards.
Section 2 – Three tardies to
practice will be equal to an unauthorized absence.
Section 3 – Any member with
excess of three unexcused absences during the school year shall be
removed from membership.
Section 4 – In addition, a member may be removed (by Board and
Advisor) for improper conduct or any behavior which may reflect on the name of
the club as determined by school conduct codes. This club action may be
superseded by the actions of the Administration.
Article VII: Amendments
The
Constitution may be amended at any time by a ¾ majority vote of all members and
the approval of the advisor.
