Basic format for book:

Author last name, author first name [If the book has an editor instead of an author, place ed. after the

name]. Title. Place of publication: Publisher, date of publication.

Basic format for book in a Series:

Author last name, author first name [If the book has an editor instead of an author, place ed. after the

name]. Title. Name of series. Place of publication: Publisher, date of publication.

Basic format when using a set of encyclopedias (often referred to as Reference books):

Author last name, author first name. “Name of the article.” Name of encyclopedia. Ed. follow by first and

last name of editor. Vol. #. Place of publication: Publisher, date of publication. Range of pages you used.

“Coniferous Forest.” Biomes. Ed. Marlene Weigel. Vol. 1. Farmington Hills, MI: UXL, 2000. 1-45.
