Palatine Girl's Gymnastics Coaches

Head Coach: Terry Theobald

This is Terry's 14th year serving as girl's head coach with a record of 88 wins and 33 losses.  Before becoming head coach, Terry was an assistant at Palatine for 13 years, including 1988 and 1989 when Palatine's team won the state meet.  Terry has been honored in the Mid-Suburban League Conference with head coach of the year status in 2000 and 2001.  The Illinois High School Coach's Association choose him as the state coach of the year in 2001, 2005 and 2006, and also inducted him into the association coach's hall of fame in 2002.  For the past 25 years Terry has also worked as the floor manager at the state meet which is held at Palatine.  Terry has also served as an assistant boy's coach at Palatine (4 years) and Fremd (5 years). 

Assistant Coach: Scott Hagel    

Scott is beginning his 8th year as an assistant girl's coach, boy's head coach, and a boy's judge.  Scott was honored by the Mid-Suburban League Conference as boy's head coach of the year in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.  In 2007 his boy's gymnastics team won the state championship and was he chosen as the Illinois High School Gymnastics Coach's Association State Coach of the Year.  He is currently the past-president of the Illinois High School Gymnastics Coach's Association, and is a floor manager at the girl's state meet.  He earned a degree in physical education and math from Northern Illinois University in 2000, a master's degree in P.E. from Chicago State University in 2003, and received his National Board Certification in P.E. in 2005.  He currently is in his 8th year as a P.E. teacher at Palatine.  Scott competed at Mundelein High School from 1991-1995 where he was a member of 2nd and 4th place state teams, qualified to state in the all-around, and was a state finalist on parallel bars. 

Assistant Coach: Jodi Waddington

This is Jodi's 10th year as an assistant coach on the girl's gymnastics team.  In 2000 Jodi was chosen by the Mid-Suburban League Conference as junior varsity coach of the year.  Jodi is a former Palatine High School gymnast, diver, and track team member.  Jodi had an outstanding high school gymnastics career.  She is the current all-around record holder at Palatine.  In 1988 and 1989 Jodi helped her team win the state championship.  She also was a state finalist on individual events in 1988, 1989, and 1990.  She graduated from Eastern Michigan University  with a degree in elementary education.  While attending Eastern Michigan University on a gymnastics scholarship she was voted captain of her college team when she was a sophomore, junior, and senior.  She placed on individual events in the 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996 Mid-American Conference meet.  In 1996 Jodi received the Mid-American Conference's highest women's gymnastics honor when she was voted MAC gymnast of the year.
