Keeping Female
Runners Healthy
Came across this
video (courtesy
of FloTrack.com) a while
back and thought
it would be good
for all you
girls to watch.
The interviewee
is,
Karen Harvey, the women's
head XC coach at
Florida State
University, the
2009 NCAA XC
runner-ups.
(Side note - she
was the head
coach at
University of
Illinois up
until 2006). She
was also a very
successful
All-American
runner in both
cross country
and track at the
University of
Michigan in the
mid-90's. In
this video she
discusses some
of the issues
that contribute
to female
running-related
health.
Great insight,
from both a
successful
female athlete
and coach, to
keeping yourself
healthy both
short and
long-term.
Video may take
some time to
load...if so,
press play, then
pause it to let
it load up most
of the way. |

Grad and All-Stater
Carly Bates-Wells speaks to
team |
On Tuesday
evening we had
the pleasure of
listening to one
of Palatine's
all-time greats
speak to the
team on being
successful and
the importance
of proper
nutrition.
Carly is in her
senior year at
Bowling Green
State
University in
Ohio where she
is a member of
the track and
cross country
teams and a
nutrition major.
Carly was a 3x
All-Stater in
track as a
member of one
state champ and
two runner-up
3200m relay
teams. The
'06 team holds
the current
school record of
9:09, which at
the time broke
the state record
in that event.
As well, Carly
ran on three
state cross
country teams,
including being
the #4 runner
for two state
trophy teams,
the '05 third
place team and
the '03 state
runner-up team
