Chess Club

 Club Officers:

Chess Club meets once a week to play chess socially. Members learn chess fundamentals and ways to improve their game. Some activities include creating a ladder to rank players by ability, creating in-house tournaments for prizes and using computer software to get approximate USCF ratings for the chess players.  For centuries chess has been viewed as a game that promotes critical thinking and problem solving skills, allows individuals to challenge one another in an environment of fair play and sportsmanship, teaches patience, fosters self confidence, builds strong communication and organization skills, and most of all have fun.

PHS Chess is for everyone and anyone.  Even if you have never even seen a chess board before, you are encouraged to come on by, meet some new friends, and learn a game that will enhance every aspect of your life.  So come on by and stay for a while.

The club meets after school every Wednesday in room 327
